Post Change to new members registration
Since taking advise on protecting the site and members we have decided to drop the 28 day policy and to change the registation page for new members.
From now on the registration page will ask for information such as name, address,DOB, telephone no etc. all this information will be stored in accordance with the data protction act.
By doing this everyone is protected and the site will be a safer place.
As i have said before i want the club/site to be run by the members for the members.
If anyone has any questions or suggestions please contact a member of the site management team via pm who will only to happy to listen and take your ideas onboard.

Please note this will not affect any current registered members

many thanks

:ymapplause: Hi Caz, does that mean all the new rules are scrapped?

But, even me, I won't enter any address details in any forums registration page. This isn't a dating site where you need all this palaver. A forum is a community of cyber aviators. it just so happens we have monthly meets and know one another.

Pls pls drop all the rules #-o :ympray:

Ok, limited amount of post before you can sell anything but nothing more

yes mr mod i did read that post but still don't see the need for all the info so if i give you my phone number when i join what you gonna give me a ring to make sure i'm home or are you gonna come round to my adress to check me out ,no of course your not so i can just lie and tell you all you want to hear as you never gonna come and see me and any real shisters are just gonna lie anyway so i really don't see how this will help protect anything

right you lot take note of the crap in bold!

to stop bots (spammers) from joining the site all you need todo is the following:
1. add a verification code when registering, this will stops programs that automatically register.

2. add section when joining they put down location and what they drive example
soton
impreza wrx. reason for doing this if its a spam bot then it will just put down something like their name in location and what country they are located in the car bit.

3. dont automatically validate new members, admin check what they have put in profile and if its what is in point 2 then you know to not let them in.

4. when validating members look at the email address if it has .ru at the end thens its sapm.

5. impose a 50 post rule for stuff to be able to go in forsale section, if someone posts up stuff forsale and havent got the correct number of posts then NUKE the thread job done!

follow those points all will be fine

the whole address thing is utter bollocks, its not like this club is part of MI f**king 5 and all data is important.
II have never had to have rules on UJCC like you are introducing and we have been running for 7years.

If you dont start being more laid back then the club is just going to be a ghost town.

If your worried about it being hacked and loosing all data then just do a bloody backup every night, the file is small so wont take up much space on pc.

Rant over

This is all about someone who called themselves the artful dodger who signed up anonymously and caused trouble. With DSOC up and running as well, with members on there being told not to cause trouble, things like that shouldn't happen again. Therefore all these rules and regulations shouldn't be needed anymore. DS should be able to go back to how it was before, minus all the arguing.

:ymapplause: @ Shifty, internets common sense!

If Admins can't do it, get some in that can, all Shifty's points are bang on(in bold)
If an idiot does slip through, nuke them, simple.

Regarding DS mods, personally I would like to see at least 2 really active members as Mods, its not so bad atm as there is a lack of traffic.

Seriously, this place doesn't need rules just for the sake of having them.

Oh and Artful was a right smelly FLOWER, no matter who there are/were.

True and valid points guys,i agree with Shifty. The rules he suggested are ample, there is no need for address phone number etc. I myself never give out my phone number and certainly not my address unless i now the person well,so newbies would be the some i would of thought!!! B-) B-) B-) B-)

Post Re: Change to new members registration
I can see where both sides are coming from but i will have to agree with shifty on this one , these rules may be in place to protect members but most people well nearly everyone dont want them, why have something put in place when no one wants them????
These rules just seem to make arguments not prevent them and like boystoys said ds is laughing stock atm :(

Just get rid and go back the way it was before everyone had fun and posts were regulary put up now theres harldy any, these rules seem to be pushing exsiting members away and not inviting any new members to join, if theres any trouble then just deactivate the person causing it.

If this club is said to be be for the members and run by the members then listen to what is being said and make it happen :-bd :-bd , if anything goes wrong you cant say you didnt try ! Stik with the old way things were run in the club , thats what made it as sucessful as it was!, now new things are put in place where are we? ?

Im sure none in this club wants to see it destroyed by some new rules ?!?!
