This tutorial has been a long time coming, my apologies for taking so long but its finally here.

Dorset Scoobys is although a growing site, actually quite small in web storage terms.

This allows it to run at a speed that is agreeably acceptable to all its members.

If you follow this guide you will have no problems at all and will in time become speedy, i.e. editing, uploading and then viewing within minutes

During this tutorial we will be using a number of tools.

Pixresizer a program for windows that allows you to compress pictures to be compressed to a level where loading on the internet is quick but the quality is as good as when the picture was taken

Photobucket a website that allows us to store our pictures outside of Dorset Scoobys so the site is not hindered or have decreased performance. However we can link them so they appear on Dorset Scoobys and to the untrained eye will actually believe they are part of the site.

First this is to download Pixresizer this can be done by clicking the link below

Creating 2 folders anywhere you like but somewhere you can find them and name them as follows as it’s the most logical way

1. From Camera
2. To Web

So to recap,

We now have Pixresizer, 2 folders and a photobucket account, now for the beef but we will break that down.

1. copy your pictures from your camera to your 1. From Camera folder

2. Open Pixresizer, at the top you have 2 tabs, 1. Work with one file, 2. Work with multiple files, choose the multiple files tab.



3. Select the source = 1. From camera



4. Select the destination = 2. To web



5. use the slider bar and toggle buttons to select 792 (quite a good size)



6. leave the file type as JPEG and hit save, it will give you a percentage bar and will alert you when complete.

That’s all we have to do with the editing of pictures, pretty easy really, now we need to get them up onto DS

Open photobucket in your web browser and login, you should see the screen pictured



7. Click the choose files button and search for the 2. To web folder that has your edited version of your photos and select them all and choose open, this will now upload all your pictures to the site and it will ask you if you wish to name them, personally I don’t as im linking them to DS but its personal preference.



8. Now you will see the pictures that you have uploaded, you are interested only in the bottom link which is [IMG] Pictured below, if you left click in the box it will automatically copy the link and when you go to your forum post or signature block all you have to do is paste it in and when you submit it the image will be displayed from photobucket, keeping the site running fast and clean.
